History Of Laser Marking
The date Laser Etching was invented is not exactly known, however the first laser engraving was done in 1978. Some key moments in time with regards to the creation of laser etching include:

- 1951 Charles Hard Townes conceives the maser
- 1957 – Gordon Gould theorizes the laser
- 1964 – The CO2 laser is invented
- 1978 – The first laser engraver is created
- 1996 – First software developed specifically for lasers is created
Evolution of Laser Marking
Today, laser engravers don’t look like they used to. Laser engravers have become smaller, more precise in the engraved image and they don’t emit as much radiation s they used to. Over time Laser marking equipment has become more environmentally friendly and usually contain a polycarbonate window which helps to absorb all of the radiation that is emitted.
Materials commonly used for laser etching:

- Stainless Steel
- Magnesium
- Anodized Aluminum
